How I Eat
I eat quality foods but don't measure the amount
I eat 1-3 full cheat meals per week
I weigh and measure nothing, In the past year i have experimented with my diet. I've tried strict Paleo and slowly adding back carbs etc to find a balance for me. I dislike food shopping and hate cooking. I am the worst cook in the world so I really struggle with nutrition. If it wasn't for protein shakes I wouldn't be alive (180 is my current favourite).
How I Train
I have a coach who determines my programming
I work at a globo gym, do PTs privately and then i have to travel 45 mins atleast (1 hour if the traffic is bad) to get to Crossfit Adelaide. For a few weeks in the past year i really tried to make it to CFA as much as possible. My record was 5 sessions - but the cost of fuel, time and family life was far too great. So currently i have 2 PTs a week with Crossfit Adelaide Ben, and then I do the advanced WOD on a Saturday morning. I currently only teach a Spin class and a X-trainer class at the gym where i work, but this all keeps me super busy.
My Athletic Background
I played youth or high school level sports
Always been active. Nothing competitive in the past 15 years. Group fitness instructor, only introduced to Crossfit in about October 2011.
My Experience With CrossFit
I began CrossFit with a coach (e.g. at an affiliate)
I have completed the CrossFit Level 1 certificate course
My Work/Rest Schedule
I usually only do 1 workout a day
I typically rest 4 or more days per month
I don't recover like the young ones, so rest and recovery is super super important to me. I see so many people rock up and train each and every day - and i'm still holding my own - something I guess I'm proud of for a 41 year old. If I want to go further in the sport I would have to train a little more, but I would also have to spend extra time on recovery to make it worth my while.
