Rich Smith has been involved with CrossFit since 2013. He previously helped coach at CrossFit Vicksburg in Mississippi. He received his CrossFit Level One Trainer Certification in 2013 and his CrossFit Mobility certification in 2015. Growing up in Georgia he enjoyed playing baseball, football, basketball and wrestling. Before CrossFit he kept himself in shape by running and and swimming while a lifeguard. When a lifeguard buddy challenged him to do Stew Smith’s 12 Weeks to BUDs workout program it changed the way he viewed fitness. This helped lay the foundation for him becoming more fitness minded and helping others with their fitness goals. He used that training to prepare him for his first obstacle course race in 2012. Since then he has competed in over 100 OCR events all around the US and is a 3x Top 50 Reebok Spartan Race Elite Point Series Standings Finisher in the 2013, 2014 and 2015 seasons. When he is not coaching CrossFit he is training for his next OCR race or Functional Fitness competition using the the total body functional fitness CrossFit provides. As a husband and father Rich strives to live a healthy and active lifestyle and hopes his actions encourage and motivate others to stay consistent and use the slight edge to achieve their goals.
