Semi-old dude who is trying to get healthy after years of working out with the TV Remote and going to all-you-can-eat buffets. Stated goal is to lose weight so I can stop being a slave to the pharmaceutical companies. Target body weight is 5 pood. Secret goal is to look good with my shirt off and to re-discover where my 6 pack of abs have been hiding all these years. Passionate about the blues, the sound of a righteously cranked guitar amp set on "11", and Corvettes. WOD forth !


How I Eat

I eat quality foods but don't measure the amount

For the past 9 months, I eat mostly paleo. I've done two whole30 challenges back-to-back (60 days). Paleo has made a huge difference in my Crossfit workouts, my day to day gut health, has cured bad sinus issues, and was partly responsible for melting 40 lbs off my fat body last year.

How I Train

I workout mostly at a CrossFit Affiliate

I work out a couple times a month at home doing simple body weight movements that I've learned in the Crossfit gym. Generally, I WOD 3 times per week. This year, I added Wendler 5/3/1 workouts twice a week to build up strength in the basic lifts. I found at age 59, that I love lifting weights.

My Experience With CrossFit

I have had a life changing experience due to CrossFit

I am an unashamed Crossfit evangelist. Crossfit, plus a paleo diet, have changed my life. Crossfit has been great for me because: 1. I lost 40 lbs but I'm also much stronger that I was a year ago. 2. I've met a bunch of people in the gym that I would not have met any other way. 3. I've never liked working out because it is boring. But, I look forward to going to Crossfit Impulse. 4. I don't have to think about my workouts. I show up and do what is on the whiteboard. If I can't do what's on the whiteboard that day, I can do other things that are just as challenging. 5. There are many options for getting fit: gymnastics, yoga, swimming. 6. I love to lift weights. A big surprise. 7. I learned to eat better. I thought I knew this before. I was wrong. 8. I learned to stretch before working out, otherwise I get hurt. 9. I appreciate good coaching. Another surprise. 10. I did not think I would like someone critiquing my form. I was wrong.

My Work/Rest Schedule

I usually only do 1 workout a day

3 WODs per week, plus two Wendler 5/3/1 sessions.
