I am originally from Washington D.C. and currently living in Petersburg, VA. I have 3 children as well as 1 granddaughter. I am a U.S. Army Infantry LTC with 20 years of service currently serving as Deputy Director (Operations) for the Exercise Simulations Directorate in Ft. Lee, VA. I was previously stationed in Hawaii for 5 years as a Battalion Operation Officer, Executive Officer and Deputy Commander of an Infantry Brigade. My military career has also taken me to Korea; Ft. Benning, GA; Ft. Campbell, KY; Ft. Myer, VA and Ft. Monroe, VA. My military qualifications include Ranger, Airborne, Air Assault, Combat Infantrymen, Expert Infantrymen, and numerous Instructor Certifications. I have been awarded several decorations from multiple deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan which include two Bronze Stars. I started CrossFit in Nov 2011 after returning from a deployment to Iraq. While there two fellow officers, LTC Mike Berdy and CPT Mat Krakowski, introduced me to CrossFit. I joined CF Waipio under the CF Oahu wing and started my CF journey under the coaching of Amanda Bussett, Rich Largo, David and Daniel Lyman, Mike Demarco and Katie Kliensmith. For the last two years I have been a member of Colonial CrossFit located in Chester, VA and follow the programing of my coach Sarah Burkett along with coaches Robert Wilson, Linda Taylor, Daniel Roberts and Brandon Roberson. I have participated in 4 CrossFit Games Opens and competed in numerous CF competitions while in Hawaii and Virginia. I competed in the 2014 Granite Games (Masters 40-44) where I placed 12th and placed 4th (Masters Team) in 2015 and 2016 during the Superfit East Coast Championship in Richmond, VA. This year under the wing of my coach Sarah Burkett I placed 10th world wide for the CrossFit Games Open and held on to that position through the Masters Online Qualifier, receiving an invite to the 2016 Reebok CrossFit Games. My favorite WOD is MURPH in honor of a true American Hero, LT Michael Murphy. I always do this in full body armor to pay my respect to LT Murphy and his Seal Team members that died that day. I truly love everything about the CF community from the WOD’s to the friendships created; this community is for “everyone”. It does not matter where you’re from or how big and strong you are we all are linked by a common goal to be just a little better than yesterday.
