I currently am a dance teacher at Cortez High School in Phoenix, AZ. I have been dancing for 18 years and have only done crossfit for one of those years. I am passionate about living a healthy and clean life and do my best to teach my students to do the same.
How I Eat
I eat strict Paleo
I eat quality foods but don't measure the amount
I don't count calories...but I do count carb intake. For the most part I follow a pretty strict paleo diet...the only exception I will make is I eat oatmeal for breakfast a couple of days a week since I can't eat eggs. I have Celiac's Disease along with dairy, egg, and corn allergies...so I pretty much have no choice but to eat paleo.
How I Train
I workout mostly at a CrossFit Affiliate
I have a coach who determines my programming
I record my workouts
Since I started teaching dance full time, my workout schedule has become more and more wonky each week, but I am hoping that through the opens, I will be able to participate more regularly.
My Athletic Background
I played youth or high school level sports
I played college sports
I played professional sports
FYI: I consider a lifetime of dancing a sport.
My Experience With CrossFit
I began CrossFit with a coach (e.g. at an affiliate)
I have had a life changing experience due to CrossFit
Unlike many others, I actually joined CrossFit to gain weight...rather than to lose weight. One year ago (before I started training) I was barely 100 pounds, and still dropping weight. I first started losing weight when I was diagnosed with a nice assortment of food allergies, and then it just kept going. I tried so many different methods to gain the weight backl; eating more, dancing less, etc...but it wasn't until I walked into Urban Warfit CrossFit when my life began to turn around. As soon as I started weight training, the weight started to pack on right away. Within the first couple of weeks, I gained back 5 pounds worth of muscle! One year later I am proud to say that I am a healthy (and solid!) 123 pounds!
