Athlete: Jeremy Black
How I Eat
I weigh and measure my food
I eat 1-3 full cheat meals per week
How I Train
I workout mostly at home, work, or a traditional gym
I incorporate CrossFit.com workouts
I write my own programming
I record my workouts
I incorporate both CrossFit and powerlifting in writing my own GPP and strength programming. I've been very happy with the results.
My Athletic Background
I played youth or high school level sports
Oregon State Champion in Soccer during High School. Professional slug and beer drinker in college. CrossFit was integral in emancipating me from the constraints I shackled myself with while pursuing the latter. Moderation in all things; including moderation.
My Experience With CrossFit
I began CrossFit by trying it alone (without a coach)
I have completed the CrossFit Level 1 certificate course
I have had a life changing experience due to CrossFit
I train other people
I had the privilege of working out as a member of an affiliate for some time, but the garage gym fit my lifestyle, schedule and budget most affably for some time. I was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to help train at CrossFit 1098 in Denver, CO. I greatly appreciate the opportunity and responsibility that such a position engenders. I visit affiliates on occasion for drop-ins; it's a great way to re-energize one's training as well as maintain an appreciation for the greater CrossFit Community.
My Work/Rest Schedule
I usually only do 1 workout a day
I do multiple workouts in a day 1x a week
I typically rest 4 or more days per month
I employ a three days on, one day off routine. It has worked well for me, given my 48/96 Firefighting schedule. I permit a floating rest day to be implemented when feeling a little beat up or after having stayed awake for the majority of my shift.
How long have you been doing CrossFit?
I walked into my first affiliate in August of 2011. One of the biggest favors I ever did for myself.
