With one week left to go in the 2014 Open I find myself reflecting on the experience to date. As always and as is the point, the open has exposed areas that require attention, effort and dedication. All and all I am pretty happy with my progress from last year's open. The best part of the 2014 Open has been doing it with my family. The Open has become a pivotal part of our lives. My wife, Michelle Svarich, is participating in the open for the first time and with everything she does she has been consumed by it. While her obsession drives me a little nuts I admire her commitment and her drive. It has been great to strategize, to analyze and to debate each WOD with her. The best part of each of the last 4 weeks has been heading into to Rock Jungle CrossFit to take on the open WOD as a family. I cannot think of a better way to teach the importance, first of healthy active living, and secondly hard work, commitment and determination to our three children, than to demonstrate it each week. Michelle and I agreed that the highlight of the 2014 open has been our 11 year old's (@savy_64) post Instagram posts. So, with 1 workout to go in the 2014 Open, I easily say it has been the best CrossFit experience to date. Despite the double unders, chest to bar pulls and the ridiculous volume of heavy deadlifts.
