How I Eat

I eat 1-3 full cheat meals per week

I have been eating Paleo for a little over a year now. It wasn't until I entered a local Crossfit competition in which I had to eat a strict Paleo diet, that I actually realized I was eating Paleo for the past year and didn't know it. I had my thyroid removed in 2008 (age 28) and that became a learning experience in and of itself. My metabolism slowed to almost a halt, specific foods made me incredibly tired and I felt like I had no control over my body anymore. So I started to take out processed foods and quickly noticed that I felt better, mentally and physically. I then removed red meat and artificial sugar from my diet and within 4-6 weeks I noticed an increase in my energy levels, my metabolism stabilized and was more efficient, and my weight started to decrease, but best of all I just felt better, overall. Now if I eat anything processed, red meat, or anything with a high sugar content, I feel sluggish, tired and like my body hates me.

How I Train

I workout mostly at a CrossFit Affiliate

My passions are Muay Thai fighting and Crossfit. I love to be outside and active; so anything goes when it comes to being outdoors.

My Athletic Background

I was never in any kind of sports in high school or college. As an adult, I have been through all types of training from bootcamps, to personal trainers, from barre classes to pilates and yoga, then some circuit training, cycling and some swimming. I started back to Muay Thai training/technical training 16 mths ago, and was invited to check out this local Crossfit gym, Crossfit Cedar Park. Well I went to try out a class and fell in love with the sport and the Crossfit gym "community" that Crossfit Cedar Park has created. I then decided to incorporate Crossfit in with my Muay Thai fighting so that I could become a stronger fighter. I not only became a stronger fighter but I found a new passion and that is Crossfit.

My Experience With CrossFit

I began CrossFit with a coach (e.g. at an affiliate)

I have had a life changing experience due to CrossFit

One year and 4 months ago when I started Crossfit at Crossfit Cedar Park, I was still trying to get my body back into the shape it was prior to having my thyroid removed. I was 33 years old, 28% body fat, 186lbs and my triglycerides were through the roof, to the point that my doctor said I had to get control of it or get put on more medications. After changing my diet (as described above) and becoming very disciplined and consistent with my trainings, I am now at 16% body fat, my body weight maintains around 135-138lbs, I no longer have elevated triglycerides, my thyroid medication is stabilized and I feel better, healthier, and stronger than I ever have before. Also, I had always wanted to be trained well enough to compete and I finally jumped in and completed a local Crossfit competition and I have been hooked ever since. I absolutely love to compete and to prepare for competitions. I love training and I have found that when I don't get to train, for whatever reason, I become grumpy.

My Work/Rest Schedule

I do multiple workouts in a day 3+ times a week

I typically rest 4 or more days per month

Monday, Wednesday, Friday : Muay Thai Training Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday: Crossfit Training I also use my lunch breaks at work to go for mile run to help keep my body loosened up during the day, plus it helps to break me away from the computer/office and enjoy the beautiful outdoors.

How long have you been doing CrossFit?

6-12 months
