In 2016 I competed for the first time at The GrossFit Games. It was the most amazing experience and I feel truly blessed to be able to compete at this level. I really hope to make it back in 2017. I've been married to the women of my dreams (Mendi) for 22 years.
How I Eat
I eat quality foods but don't measure the amount
I eat healthy and have for years even before I started CrossFit. I do cheat some mainly on the weekends. My wife and I are foodies so we like good restaurants.
How I Train
I train at 2 CrossFit Boxes depending on where I am. I mostly train at Pee Dee CrossFit in Florence SC and consider that my home Box. We have a condo in Myrtle Beach and go there most weekends and stay there during the summer. While in Myrtle Beach SC I train at CrossFit Crescent Coast (my home away from home). Del Boykin, fitness coach and owner of Pee Dee CrossFit does my programming. I typically train Crossfit 5 days per week (Sometime more). I also do Yoga class or Pilates 2 days per week. I am into the ROMWOD which I do 3-4 days a week. I started Pilates and Yoga several years ago because my mobility was terrible. It has really helped me.
My Athletic Background
I played youth or high school level sports
In high school I ran cross country, track and played soccer. My senior year in high school, I started lifting weights and found that I grew easy. That made me think I wanted to be a bodybuilder and I trained that way when I was in college. I continued to lift bodybuilding movements over the years (until I discovered CrossFit). I also enjoy playing tennis.
My Experience With CrossFit
I began CrossFit in 2010. I was doing bodybuilding type workouts at Gold's Gym in Myrtle Beach South Carolina early in the mornings when I saw one of the trainers doing different type workouts. I asked what she was doing and she said "CrossFit". I asked if I could hire her for the summer. She said I could just workout with her. That was my introduction and I was hooked.
My Work/Rest Schedule
Usually do 1 workout per day 5-6 days per week. I also do Yoga class or Pilates privates 2 times per week. I do ROMWOD 3-4 times per week.
