Athlete: Nicolette Palermo
How I Eat
I eat quality foods but don't measure the amount
I eat whenever I am hungry. I try to eat at least 2 big meals (Breakfast and Lunch) I snack a lot through out the day and usually eat a light dinner. Recently switched over to strict Paleo and I am a little nervous because I am still adjusting to no grains. I used to use Oatmeal with apples and bananas as a preworkout booster food, now I am struggling to find the new power food....I have almost settled on sweet potatoes with bananas, but I am still experimenting.
How I Train
I workout mostly at a CrossFit Affiliate
I have a coach who determines my programming
I record my workouts
My Athletic Background
I played youth or high school level sports
My Experience With CrossFit
I began CrossFit with a coach (e.g. at an affiliate)
One of my good friends is a CF trainer and he turned me on to it. I had tried CF 1 time before but I didn't care much for it, but I decided to give it another chance. I had been running and doing Bikram Yoga but felt stuck where I was at so a change of pace was in order. From the moment I worked out at the "bring a friend" Saturday WOD on 8/27/2011 I was in love. The competition, encouragement and adrenaline was a recipe for my perfect match. I jumped right in on the "accelerated course" as I like to call it bipassing all entry level classes and quickly caught up to speed with my fellow gym mates.
My Work/Rest Schedule
I do multiple workouts in a day 1x a week
I typically rest 4 or more days per month
I would say the biggest issue with missing a day is the guilt. But I also know I have to listen to my body and when my body tells me it needs a break, I rest.
