My Experience With CrossFit
I began CrossFit with a coach (e.g. at an affiliate)
I decided to try crossfit out after listening to a seminar about how women in their early 40's quickly start to lose muscle mass. This, as a 39 year old, scared me a bit. I was running and doing some martial arts training, but nothing weight bearing. I walked into a local gym and met a level 1 certified CF trainer. We hooked up and started doing some body weight workouts. Lots of bear crawls and push ups. I heard that there was more to it than what we were doing so, through a friend found an affiliate, crossfit adrenaline. I have not looked back yet. These coaches not only coach it, but they do it. I'm so fortunate to have surrounded myself with such amazing people. Crossfit Adrenaline works hard and through hard work we are able to bring awareness to a very rare genetic syndrome called MECP2. The owner of our affiliate has a nephew with this very rare syndrome that causes gross motor delay, little to no speech, issues with muscle development, and much more. My Work/Rest Schedule
I usually only do 1 workout a day
I do multiple workouts in a day 3+ times a week
I typically rest 4 or more days per month
Sometimes I forget to take a rest day. But I'm learning my lesson from that.
How long have you been doing CrossFit?
January 2011 I started a boot camp style of crossfit. Only body weight stuff. It wasn't until about May 2012 that I joined an affiliate with Crossfit Adrenaline and really started crossfitting. Until this time I had never lifted weight with a barbell. In the last year I have learned how to do pull ups, handstand push ups, pistols, clean and jerks, snatches, push jerks, and double unders. This was, and still to some extent, is a foreign language to me. AND I LOVE IT!!!
