CrossFit TTC has been working hard to prepare a strong group of women to send to Regionals. By Friday afternoon, after Workout 13.1 was announced, the top five in the region were the women of TTC.

After their performances on Open Workout 13.1, Solange Jean-Francois Mon and Anna Patrizia Caponi, from CrossFit TTC in the Republic of Panama, are women to watch in Latin America.

For Mon, who scored 173 reps in 13.1, CrossFit competitions are nothing new. At 19 years old, she tied for 27th in the 2012 Open, but went team with CrossFit TTC to the Regional in Cali, Colombia. Even though she’s young, Mon has a vast competition experience, including eight years of triathlons, several of cayuco and two years of 100 percent dedicated CrossFit training.

Caponi, in her first year of Open competition, scored 154 reps in 13.1. At 29, she’s a mother of two, a former gymnast and holds a black belt in aikido. She says she needed something to challenge her. That was CrossFit. She’s so dedicated, she drives 45 minutes every day to train at TTC.

“I live across town, but drop my kids off and take that time to concentrate and evaluate what I’m going exercise, techniques, etc.,” she says. “And as soon as I enter the box, time changes.”

Both Mon and Caponi are convinced they are ready for whatever surprises the Open might throw at them.

“My mind is always prepared for anything,” Mon says. “I know my weakness, but I’m a true believer that you are as good as your weakest link.”

Caponi has been working on ring muscle-ups in preparation for the Open, just in case they show up.

Both athletes believe their hard work and improvement over the last year would not have been possible without their coach, Hiram Cerezo, owner of CrossFit TTC.

“These ladies dedicate between two to three hours a day, 100 percent dedicated to their training, improving their techniques and physical condition every day, and are examples to follow in our box’s community,” Cerezo says. “People feel very proud of having the opportunity of doing a WOD with them on a daily basis.”

CrossFit TTC has been working hard to prepare a strong group of women to send to Regionals. By Friday afternoon, after Workout 13.1 was announced, the top five in the region were the women of TTC.

By Sunday, when the workout closed, Mon finished fourth, Eliana Jimenez was 10th, Caponi was 29th and Anna Bruno, Pochy Valdes and Diana Chacon held close behind.

The region will have eyes on these women for the next four weeks.
