Rich Froning and Julie Abildgaard have set the world’s top scores on Open Workout 16.4, the 13-minute AMRAP of 55 deadlifts (225 lb./155 lb.), 55 wall-ball shots, a 55-calorie row, and 55 handstand push-ups.
The world’s elite were able to complete one full round (220 reps), and get started on the second. Sara Sigmundsdottir set the score to beat at Schriever Air Force Base last Thursday night, finishing her 54th deadlift at the time-cap (274 reps). Over the next four days, athletes from around the world chased that score and a few surpassed it.
Rich Froning
Froning set the best men's score at 315 reps, meaning that he completed 40 wall-ball shots on the second round. Froning moved up into the top spot after Josh Bridges's 330-rep score was adjusted to 280 reps.
Julie Abildgaard
Abildgaard set the best score of any female athlete at 318 reps, besting Sigmundsdottir's improved score of 316 by 2 reps. Abildgaard, a team competitor from Copenhagen, Denmark, finished 43 wall balls in the second round. The two-time regional team competitor earned 9th at the Meridian Regional with Team Butcher’s Lab. This year, watch out for Abildgaard on Team CrossFit Copenhagen 1, which is currently 3rd in Europe.
Froning and Abildgaard will be awarded $2,016 for their Open Workout 16.4 wins.
