This seeding was created by taking the six Open workout scores of each of the 50 male individual competitors at the South Regional, for example, and re-ranking their performances relative to each other.

In a field of 50 people, the worst possible event finish is 50th place. This is very different from the Open where an athlete could fall far lower on the leaderboard. Consequently, some athletes shifted in the seeding.

For example, in the seeding the winner of the South West Region in the Open, Christian Lucero, finishes behind the second-ranked man in the South West, Sean Sweeney. This is because the 50-person pool limits Sweeney's fall on Open Workout 15.3.

When compared to all of the men in the South West Region, Sweeney's 478-rep 15.3 performance dropped him to 89th place (relative to Lucero's 12th).

When compared to the 50 men who will compete in the South Regional, Sweeney's 15.3 score put him in 34th place (to Lucero's eighth). They traded off on other events, so Sweeney comes out a little ahead in the seeding.

This movement is acceptable since it gives us the best picture of how these athletes compare to one another in the 50-person field (40-person field for the Atlantic), which is what's tested at regionals.

Updated 5/13/15 at 14:00 PT: Added teams. These team rankings were determined by using the Individual Open ranking within the respective Region for the top three females and top three males on each team.
