Drug Testing at Regionals

A fair comparison of training methodologies and athletes cannot be made without a level playing field.

The CrossFit Games are the proving ground for the Sport of Fitness. CrossFit is unique in the field of fitness as being both a sport and a fitness protocol.

The CrossFit Games test the physical and mental capabilities of the athletes and teams competing. They are also a test of, and a testament to, the training methodologies of the athletes. For that reason, a fair comparison of training methodologies and athletes cannot be made without a level playing field.

For the fourth year in a row, CrossFit is drug testing Games athletes. This year, the same organization that tests the NCAA and the NBA, Drug Free Sport, will be testing competitors at the 2012 CrossFit Games Regional competitions. The top three male and female finishers will perform a mandatory drug test on-site following the final workout.  Random samples will also be collected from the full field including the top finishing teams.

A positive drug test will disqualify an individual competitor or the entire team from the 2012 Reebok CrossFit Games. The next highest placing individual competitor or team will be invited in their stead.

Refusing to take the test will be considered a positive test and will disqualify the athlete or team.

The top competitors at the CrossFit Games in Carson, Calif., will be tested again this July.

As a competitor, it is your responsibility to understand and comply with our drug policy.
